(Video) IRONMAN announces its motto for the IRONMAN World Championship

IRONMAN, a Wanda Sports Holdings company, has announced that the word `Ohana, (which in Hawaiian culture represents a great family especially united) as the main motto of the 2019 IRONMAN® season, which will culminate in the IRONMAN World Championship®.

Throughout the season, the campaign will be represented at the 70.3 IRONMAN® and IRONMAN® 2019® events in different ways until the IRONMAN World Championship that will take place on Saturday, October 12.

Since 1978, IRONMAN has shared and revered many aspects of the Hawaiian culture, as the cradle of their competitions and host of the IRONMAN World Championship. The concept 'ohana is important for IRONMAN because it represents the special bond that unites the community of athletes, volunteers, spectators, followers and sponsors. At 2019, IRONMAN will honor those who have become part of the IRONMAN `Ohana over the past 40 years.

“Being part of an 'ohana requires a certain amount of responsibility, and it's based on the expectation to act with integrity and determination – toward your 'ohana, and as a representation of your 'ohana,” said Diana Bertsch, Senior Vice President of Championships for the IRONMAN world. “It is acting with justice, being attentive and making an effort to learn, understand and respect. These virtues – responsibility, integrity, purpose, fairness, mindfulness and sincerity – are reflected in and shared by the IRONMAN community.”

Throughout the year and on the way to Kona®, IRONMAN will educate, celebrate and cultivate the IRONMAN `Ohana by activating events, badges, IRONMAN material and initiatives such as IRONMAN: Class Of. All this will culminate in Kailua-Kona during the 41º anniversary of the IRONMAN World Championship when the legends of the sport, the professionals of the moment, the age groups and the rest of the IRONMAN `Ohana join to celebrate and enjoy together their great passion , the triathlon.

To celebrate the selection of `ohana as the motto of the IRONMAN 2019 World Championship, IRONMAN has introduced images that reflect the Hawaiian beginnings of the company. The graphics with the theme 'ohana' present the yellow hibiscus, the flower of the state of Hawaii, demonstrating unity and family. The waves of the ocean that flow behind the hibiscus are also represented. The hibiscus insignia can be found throughout 2019 as a reminder of the incredible spirit of the IRONMAN `Ohana.
