Record for the VIII IRONMAN 70.3 in Lanzarote

The test is about to reach the participating 1.000

Less than 15 days to close the registration period, the eighth edition of the IRONMAN 70.3 Lanzarote        is about to reach the maximum number of participants.

The test already exceeds 900 participants (660 last year), achieving its historical record, and approaching the participating 1.000, the maximum limit imposed by Club La Santa, the organizer of it.

Remember that the IRONMAN World Championship in Hawaii will be the following week so those professionals who have not qualified can go to Lanzarote.

35 registered professionals

If the number of IRONMAN 70.3 participants continues to increase, it can in a few years catch up with the IRONMAN Lanzarote, which reached its record in 2014 with 2.100 competitors.

Lanzarote is still a very powerful sports tourist destination and IRONMAN is one of the star events.

The test has changed course this year

This year the test changes scenario dleaving the Club La Santa to go to Playa Blanca, municipality of Yaiza, a new challenge, on Saturday, October 5.

The technical director of the event, Fabio Cabrera, highlights the impressive new route, from the swimming segment in the Crystal clear waters of Playa Dorada,.

They will pass through emblematic places of Lanzarote in the cycling segment as it is Timanafaya, Tinguatón, La Geria, Females, The Hervideros o the gulf,

The foot race runs through the maritime avenue of the Marina Rubicon port with direct views of the sea and the island of Fuerteventura.

The municipality of Playa Blanca will receive between 2.000 and 3.000 direct people due to this event. Also on Friday 4 of October there will be a test for children between 7 and 17 years in Playa Dorada, called IRONKIDS.

The City Council of Yaiza, Cabildo de Lanzarote, Insular Sports Service of Lanzarote, European Sport Destination Tourism of Lanzarote, Sailfish, Cabrera Medina, Naviera Armas and Coca Cola, have committed to IRONMAN 70.3.

On the other hand, it will be at the Hotel h20 Rubicón Palace where the awards dinner will take place and the appointment of places for the 2020 World Championship in Taupo, New Zealand
