Looking for a star ... Jesús del Val Benítez

This week it's the turn of a new triathlon promise, Jesús del Val Benítez

Felipe Gutiérrez He has done an interview to meet this future triathlete. Another Monday that I returned to CAR of Madrid to meet another triathlete who lives intensely the triathlon and with only 16 years, in June he meets the 17 and away from his Estepona that certainly can not forget.

Last night I searched for his Facebook and we were not friends, so I asked him for "friendship" and after a few minutes he gave me the OK. That means that I was in the CAR Residence, maybe studying or resting because that, along with training, is the usual routine. As a curiosity I saw that 401 had "friends" on the social network and we shared 132, not bad.

It is still in the category Cadet, last year he doubled in the Spanish Championship of triathlon and duathlon, but double 4º, the chocolate medal as he tells us, sure that this 2015 will remove the thorn and "play metal".

Your club is the Tri Marbella Bike Aqua Arena and trained in Estepona almost always alone and Alvaro Lucena from Marbella "controlled" the training.

In Estepona I was studying 4º of ESO at the Monterroso Institute and here in Madrid I am currently doing 1º of Bachelor of Science and Technology.

TN- But after you want to study, what do you want to do?

JDV- I would like to be an engineer and ... But it also depends on how I go in sports and I would see if I shoot more for sport or engineering.

TN- Do you think you can live with triathlon?

JDV- It's very difficult, it's very difficult ...

TN- But what have you gained by coming here to CAR to train?

JDV- At least now I have a training group and I am improving the technique in the three segments and things that I have yet to polish, I am polishing them here.

Jesus del Val

TN- Who do you train with here?

JDV. With the whole group of trainers of the Spanish Triathlon Federation. The main trainer is Sergio with Benito de Torres and Adrían Ruano

TN- And how does being young mean you do not want to go back to your house from time to time?

JDV- Well, of course I remember my family, the Estepona beach, the mountains, the mountains, it is a very good area to ride a bike and it is next to Marbella, I remember all that. Two weeks ago I went home, I go more or less once a month.

TN- And what do your parents think about this whole adventure?

JDV- My parents like that I go there from time to time. They tell me that if I am happy here, then let me continue.

TN- How did you start in the triathlon?

JDV- I started swimming in the club there, in Estepona and I was also running, my father was an athlete since I was cross-country and things like that, and I decided to see what I would do with the triathlon since I only had to try the bike.

The Marbella Triathlon was my first test and I liked it a lot, I was third because I fell on a bike, arriving at the transition, about six years ago, that is, I was about ten years old.

TN- What do you best master of the three segments?

JDV- The race on foot and the bike and curiously the weakest thing is swimming.

TN- You will not be one of the lovers of Marina Castro?

JDV- (laughs and turns red, she still has that ability to blush) yes, yes, she is a friend of the club and she also started as a "girl" in the club and she and I were from the beginning when we were Very few.

Matiza to my statement that she is very pretty with a yes, if ... (You want to leave the question).

Jesus del Val

TN- You used to tell me that you want to possibly focus your life on the world of sports. Maybe some JJOO, of what year?

JDV- I think 2024, because 2020 is very hasty ...

TN- But will you endure to wait so long and "crush" every day?

JDV- Yes, yes of course.

TN- Do you admire a triathlete?

JDV- Yes, I admire Gomez Noya a lot, Mario Mola, the Brownlee brothers ...

TN- Do you look like someone?

JDV- No, I do not look like anyone.

TN- After the two 4º places last year in the Spanish championships, do you see yourself as more possibilities for the 2015 ?, have you learned much here in the CAR?

JDV- Yes, if better, here I am much better.

TN- Do you study a lot or ...?

JDV- If I study, you have to study because you have to take the course.

TN- Thursday is your day of rest, what are you doing that day?

JDV- Sometimes we go out to dinner out there all ...

TN- Who is the "boss" of these exits?

JDV- That has behind (David Castro, who incidentally baptized him as "Jesulin"), we go around and with training and studying we leave all the time of the week.

TN- If I had to choose a training like the one you like, why would you choose?

JDV- I like the 1000 series, some 6 series at the rhythm of competition to 3'05 "to 3'10" and recovering 45 "; he looks happy.

TN- And the least?

JDV- Filming I do not like much and do meters in swimming either.

TN- Besides your parents, who helps you in this, a sponsor, your club ...?

JDV- At the moment I do not have sponsors, and the club pays me some inscriptions, some trips such as team competitions and what we do as a group.

TN- But to your family that says ... I do not think they are so calm ...

JDV- You really have always supported me and I thank you very much. My mother at first did not want me to come, but now when she sees me happy here she does not say anything. They have already come to see me.

TN- Do you have more brothers?

JDV- If I have a sister older than me, but she does not play sports, she is an Aeronautical Engineer.

Jesus is one of a few words, but he has everything clear, he wants to get to the top of the triathlon world, and there he will continue with his engineering little by little.

The training group was waiting for him to go to the Casa de Campo, so we took some pictures on the track and he almost did not give us time to say goodbye, he was already running.

Maybe it's another of the stars we're looking for ... 2020 ?, 2024?
