Siesta time by Felipe Gutiérrez "Since don Pelayo nobody reconquers Spain"

A few days ago, in the newspaper El Comercio de Asturias, an article entitled "The Winter triathlon conquers Spain" Damn, I thought, I'm sure I'm sleeping and this title is not real. I keep reading and we talk about the boom of this modality in Spain and I wonder, but how many tests are there in Spain?

 

 

I go to my test file for the 2015 and check what I was afraid of, there are only 5 tests and they are hosted by Aragón, Asturias, Castilla León, Navarra and the Spanish Championship in Reinosa in Cantabria.

Well nothing that the Winter Triathlon does not reconquer anything, because in the 90 years there were more tests and it is a difficult modality to organize and with a rather low participation. I suppose that in the one of Spain they will happen "touching" the 200 and in the others if they happen of 100 sportsmen it will be a success.

A glass of Spain for nostalgic ?, then phenomenal those practitioners will make in those 5 tests a classification for the Cup that few prizes or rather none in cash will have the winners and if any gift is "spices" that Trangoworld will give them. I am very afraid that few triathletes will do the five tests.

Well of 800 tests that there are in Spain between all the modalities, categories and other only 5 are winter triathlon, which many still call White Triathlon and whose terminology has registered Joaquín Liendo that in his time organized a circuit of tests that yes lived as something important since he even had athletes known by all and some other actress who gave "cache" to the modality.

All that has been lost, now it is impossible that with the current approaches the Winter Triathlon has more value than it has, it is not yet time to reconquer Spain, of that only my countryman D. Pelayo knew.

Nap time is going by and I'm worried about this. I close my eyes and see the images of last year in the Championship of Spain in Alto Campoó. A bad design of the circuit, a bad championship ruined by the conditions of the route (to say something) made the ribbon this year have it easier because with improving a bit will be better championship.

The truth is that I do not like those images, I do not like almost anyone but I think it is the only venue that wants to do the Championship and also with the unconditional support of the City of Reinosa and even with a significant economic value.

 

 

This year the plus of the European championship "Breaking" the molds of the ITU format "all snow" where the triathletes tread throughout the test that blanket white, now I imagine that nobody will want to make that ETU Event and we have "cast" in Spain. If this serves to design a better layout, then better but nobody will sell us the story that "the winter triathlon conquers Spain".

I can not keep giving "sleep" on the couch, I want to put my vision of it and send it to Triathlon News because tomorrow Thursday comes to light.

I will not go to the one in Spain and it encourages me less that it is from Europe at the same time, it is like “the birth of the mountains” (*), I will not go to Reinosa-Alto Campoo, I think that after many years I will miss, “the last year ”he left me out of this competitive modality, although I love to practice Nordic skiing.

I think that in order for the Winter Triathlon to conquer Spain and the triathletes, it only takes a Joaquín Liendo-type person, who seeks, to fight for giving prestige to a possible circuit where our athletes, thanks to the mediation of this modality, will benefit them or the least fun
