The hour of the siesta by Felipe Gutiérrez: About the bike ... education

I've been thinking about the "bad education" that I see in the world of triathlon and that I did not see for years, "grandfather chive" things I guess some will say.

Because of my teaching profession of Physical Education and Sports I have always fought against "Bad education" sports and in any school environment. I've been thinking about the "bad education" I see in the world of triathlon and that years ago I did not see, "grandfather chive" things I imagine some will say.

But look for where reading the facebook of Jaime Menéndez de Luarca and seeing a paragraph that I here attach, of course with your permission, I think we think the same thing at 100% and see that many times we have different points of view. So thanks to Jaime I almost have the column written and I can sleep at last! the so longed siesta of Wednesdays.

I've known Jaime since 1991, he was 17 years old and I ... well I was already a triathlon trainer and the Duathlon de la Castellana ran.

From the 91 to the 93 he was with me in the T3 Real Canoe of Triathlon and his adventurous spirit and "restless ass" went looking for other objectives. Now it has been launched with a new SOLORIDE project, you have to visit it and learn from it, it knows a lot.

Jaime puts this on his wall, dedicated to people who ride a bicycle, I'll settle for the spinning:

He says: "Something is wrong with the cycling / Triathlon coaches with the novices, because they do not teach them the most basic etiquette rules when they go out with the bike;

- ALWAYS Greet
-You ask a partner in the ditch if you need help ALWAYS
-Do not attack on the steep slopes to those who have worked in the plain
- It is circulated in a group of 2. If the group is odd, the loose cyclist goes last, not in between breaking the peloton
-When you get a stranger, you ask permission to go to the wheel, and if you deviate before the one who is pulling, you say goodbye.
-Do not give relief to a stranger who is doing his series and has not asked for help
-It does not enter into relays within a group that you do not know.
-Do not put one in the middle of a squad of another team
-Do not go coupled or with hands away from the brakes in the peloton.
-The relays are given maintaining the speed of the group, not increasing. "

I think we can not miss opportunities for our people, our friends, our triathletes, cyclists ... know how to act and although they are logical, maybe someone would do well to at least take into account these clear 10 ideas.

Obviously I would add two more: The first one would be ALWAYS USE THE HELMET.

In the last competition of Tres Cantos I could see the relaxation that there is to warm up by bike, without a helmet or to look for the numbers, or even the car ... I think that the officials (the judges of the test) have to intensify that follow-up and take out that yellow card with which the offender must be warned.

The day of the competition since the competition area is reached, the athlete already has to go with his helmet, the hard and problematic falls are also considered "if I only go to the car".

In international events, where you play the money if you heat without the helmet, even the day before you can be reprimanded with an economic amount.

And the second NO TIRES PORQUERIA, keep it in your jersey, make sure everything is clean, then do not complain that nobody cleans, respects the environment.

Maybe they are basic education issues ... everyone will know what they do and what they do not do well.

Gracia Jaime for giving me the foot for this column and good luck with your business and your triathlon club. It's been 24 for years ... but I'm going to take a nap, I hope I do not dream about you.
